The Viz World

I want my...
Why: Unfortunately we are in the age where Reality shows dominate television (unless you pay extra for something descent). So, it would be convenient to parody it because mostly everyone would be familiar with some form of reality television. What's nice about this idea is that it would give a behind the scenes look into the lab culture that produces the videos that are being shown at Vizagogo, as well as document the class of that year.

Content: We were thinking of having a loosely scripted shorts for this show. The plot would basically follow students working on a project the night before a deadline and the drama that ensues (ideally we'll film this the night before a project is due in one of the classes).

Interstitial 1 "Meet the Vizlab": Intro song showing some of the cast (viz students), show the ''house'' as Langford

Interstitial 2 "The Challenge": introduce the assignment (film in classroom of professor explaining the assignment), introduce some of the characters  of the students and possibly their background (like a video application to the vizlab)

Interstitial 3 "The Lab": This would focus on the lab itself. We would have footage of pranks being pulled, drama that starts to ensue with Maya/Renderman, jokes being told, and the confession booth footage.

Interstitial 4 "Out and About": coverage of STC/Beer Friday. Filmed like the club scenes, but have more of a nerd twist. Possible analysis of Pixar films, students arguing over Jar Jar Binks. Possibly inncorporate footage from guerrilla advertising, advertising Vizagogo.

Interstitial 5 "Goodbyes": Back in the lab, student will have "Render Time" which consists of them getting ready for an overnighter (fresh shirt, sleeping bag, coffee). Once the assignment is "turned in", the vizzers say their goodbyes to each other as they head off to Pixar, Dreamworks, Disney, ReelFx, etc. Possibly end with a season 2 promo.

Elements to Incorporate:
Obnoxious Timelapse of Langford/Northgate- begin and end every interstitial with a timelapse
The guy that never goes home- starts to smell, people start to wonder if he is homeless
Spray tan- between each interstitial one person becomes oranger and oranger (possibly green hair and white overalls in the end?)
The Pink Room- Confession room
The Pranker - the guy that plays pranks on other people, gets on their accounts
The Refrigerator- the evolution of it stinking
Bad Renders- Kevin kicking students around for sending renders to Alfred
"Come at me bro" "I don't want drama" " I dont care what they think"
Grenade- used in the term of an ugly animation
Tshirt Time- overnight in the lab, adjusting glasses, fresh shirt, sleeping bag, coffee
Northgate- clubscene for STC (fist pump?)
GTL becomes CAR: Code Animate Render, keep it fresh
Drama of when renderfarm goes down

Implementation:
There will be a camera left in the pink room to be used as a 'confession room'. Ideally students in the lab will take advantage of it and get creative with it when they are bored waiting on renders or hanging out in the lab.

We will also set up cameras hidden around the lab on days consider 'high traffic' (the nights before major projects due). We possibly have access to security cameras that can be used that are motion detected, so editing won't be so bad.

We will also do filming ourselves involving STC and whatever parts/interviews needed to fit the script.

Graphics:
The Vtv logo would be featured in the corner of the interstitial to help differentiate during the show that this is an interstitial.

Guerrilla Advertising: Thinking about guerilla advertising for a reality TV themed VizaGoGo, we could have a camera crew and banner holders follow the cast of the interstitials out and about.  The banner would communicate the date and location of the show (obviously).   The whole team could camp out in a public location and interact with crowds.  We could incorporate footage from the outing into into the interstitials.  Bystanders who get filmed could have their face in the interstitials.

TV Commercial
The commercial could be in the style of the following video from The Office.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeQAw0ZeeJM
Where we follow the life and development of a CG character at the vizlab, and see a bit of the reality-tv style drama and story behind it's development at the lab.
